Tasks of the Educational Services Unit
A faculty member shall be the head of this unit with experience in the field of educational services. The tasks of this unit are to coordinate work among all workers in the field of educational services to ensure their optimal implementation, and focus on the following:
- Coordination between departments to determine the technical specifications of educational and research devices, supplies, means, and the adoption of appropriate standards for the most appropriate supplier.
- Examine the purchase requests received from the departments and provide the appropriate recommendations to take the appropriate decision to purchase or refer it to the authorities, to supplying them at the appropriate price and at the specified time for all of the following:
- Educational and research laboratory equipment
- Educational supplies
- Educational aids.
- Coordination between the departments’ needs of equipment, supplies and indicating their number, quantity and quality to regulate the volume of demand and supply to take advantage of cash discount, technical support and other advantages provided by suppliers.
- Coordination between departments to take advantage of the existing equipment, supplies to ensure optimal investment and reduce waste levels.
- Evaluate the services provided in the educational and research laboratories, measure their suitability to the requirements of the study plans of the departments at the undergraduate and graduate levels and the requirements of scientific research, and send the evaluation results to the Development and Quality Committee for use in its work.
- Managing educational risks and working on developing a strategic plan at the college level to confront all potential dangers in the educational process before and during their occurrence, and measures to ensure that they do not occur or alert and warn before that.
- Ensuring the existence of safety requirements in all laboratories, ensuring that safety means are constantly in place, following risk prevention measures, and implementing immediate safety measures when any danger occurs.
- Ensure that all procedures are written in unified forms at the college level in all analytical processes in laboratories and in all educational research and experimental methods in laboratories, and focus on the following:
- The name of the analysis or method.
- The location and number of the laboratory where the method will be performed or the laboratory where the analysis will be performed.
- The equipment used in the method or the materials used in the analysis.
- A statement of the quality of the materials used in the method or analysis and a statement of the resulting risks when using them.
- An accurate description of the analysis or method, a statement of the potential risks and the expected results.
- Take all necessary precautions.
- The method of discharging the chemicals used in the analysis and resulting from it, and how to dispose.
- Studying what is referred by the dean of the college, submitting the appropriate proposals or taking the appropriate decisions within the limits or delegated to authorized person in writing.
